December, 2009 January, 2010
- Students with disabilities at the University of Minnesota get involved in all aspects of student life. Visit the Disability Services website for more information.
February
- ** Confirm your enrollment by paying your confirmation fee no later than May 1. After you pay your confirmation fee, you'll receive information about attending your required orientation program.
- ** Initiate your University of Minnesota Internet account. You'll need your Internet ID and password to sign up for orientation, register for classes, and access the University's online resources.
- Housing. Housing & Residential Life has an information packed website where you can download a Housing Guidebook and apply for housing online.
March
- March 1 ~ deadline to apply for financial aid. Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for federal, state, and University aid.
- ** Orientation dates for new students are in June and July. Sign-up for specific dates (space is limited) begins in April. Orientation is a full two-day introduction to the University of Minnesota and the College of Liberal Arts. You will meet other first-year students with interests similar to yours and learn about degree requirements and opportunities in CLA and at the University, and you'll meet individually with your academic adviser and register for classes.
- PSEO students: pay your confirmation fee by March 1 if you plan to participate in the Early PSEO Orientation program.
April
- CLA Open House. If you are looking for another opportunity to connect to CLA this spring, you are welcome to attend the Annual Open House for admitted students. Watch your e-mail for more information.
- ** Take placement tests online. All first year students are required to take a math placement test. Depending on your goals and skill level, you may also need to take placement tests in chemistry, French, German, or Spanish. Placement tests help you avoid wasting time and money on classes that are too easy or too hard.
May
- ** May 1 ~ enrollment confirmation deadline. Confirmations after May 1 are accepted on a space available basis.
- ** Complete your New Student Checklist. Explore classes (step 5) and majors (step 6) so you'll be prepared to meet with your academic adviser at orientation.
- Parent orientation. Parents and guests of first-year students are invited to attend the Parent Orientation Program. Get answers to your questions about University resources and opportunities and what to expect the first year.
June and July
- Consider Freshman Seminars, taught by award winning faculty on a broad variety of fascinating topics.
- ** Attend orientation. Orientation & First-Year Programs has the details, including directions to campus, parking information, and a checklist of what to bring with you.
August
- ** Attend Welcome Week, a six-day, on-campus program designed to complement your orientation experience, provide opportunities to enhance your academic and personal success, and give you an edge in starting college.
